CFD-based prediction of wall-pressure spectra under a turbulent boundary layer with adverse pressure gradient

چکیده

A model of the spectrum wall-pressure fluctuations under a turbulent boundary layer based on an analytical solution Poisson equation is presented. This suited for aeroacoustic prediction CFD-extracted flow information but requires statistical properties boundary-layer turbulence that are not resolved in steady-state simulations and need to be modelled. For this reason, paper uses Lattice-Boltzmann (DNS-LBM) Navier-Stokes Direct Numerical Simulations (DNS-NS) airfoil wind-tunnel jet investigate link between statistics validate assumptions made application model. The use input from two numerical simulation methods allows generalizing results

LES of the adverse-pressure gradient turbulent boundary layer

We describe large-eddy simulations (LES) of the flat-plate turbulent boundary layer in the presence of an adverse pressure gradient. The stretched-vortex subgrid-scale model is used in the domain of the flow coupled to a wall model that explicitly accounts for the presence of a finite pressure gradient. The LES are designed to match recent experiments conducted at the University of Melbourne wi...

Constant adverse pressure gradient turbulent boundary layers

Significant progress has been made towards understanding the large scale features of wall-bounded shear flow in zero pressure gradient (ZPG) turbulent boundary layers (TBL). Here we consider their effects in adverse pressure gradient (APG) flows where the pressure gradient parameter is held constant and Reynolds number is varied. This is done by documenting the changes in the mean velocity, str...

A parametric study of adverse pressure gradient turbulent boundary layers

There are many open questions regarding the behaviour of turbulent boundary layers subjected to pressure gradients and this is confounded by the large parameter space that may affect these flows. While there have been many valuable investigations conducted within this parameter space, there are still insufficient data to attempt to reduce this parameter space. Here, we consider a parametric stu...

Structure of the zero-pressure-gradient turbulent boundary layer.

A processing of recent experimental data by Nagib and Hites [Nagib, H. & Hites, M. (1995) AIAA paper 95-0786, Reno, NV) shows that the flow in a zero-pressure-gradient turbulent boundary layer, outside the viscous sublayer, consists of two self-similar regions, each described by a scaling law. The results concerning the Reynolds-number dependence of the coefficients of the wall-region scaling l...

Influences of Large-scale Structures on Skin Friction in an Adverse Pressure Gradient Turbulent Boundary Layer

Direct numerical simulation (DNS) of a turbulent boundary layer (TBL) subjected to adverse pressure gradient (APG) at Reτ = 834 is performed to investigate large-scale influences on vortical motions. For comparison, DNS data of a zero pressure gradient (ZPG) TBL at Reτ = 837 is analyzed. The spanwise energy spectra of the streamwise velocity fluctuations show that the large-scale energy above 4...
